Found a few droppings with some blood in it. Checked all butts did not find the one affected. No behavioural changes. It was dark red drops attached to formed poop. Only a couple of droppings. No mucus. Couldn’t get a picture as it was too dark.

This is week 3 of them being in their coop and run.

Any suggestions? What do I look for? I’m trying not to freak out too much.

Is this coccidia?

Located in Ontario. Trying to find corid in case I need it.

If you see more droppings like that, a photo would be good.

Frank blood in droppings, I would treat for Coccidiosis. Hopefully you can find some Corid (Amprolium), being in Canada it may prove to be a challenge. A vet may be your best course of action unless you know some folks that raise cattle and have some Corid they can share with you.

Sulfa antibiotics would be another alternative for treatment, but you likely need a vet for those as well.

I would treat for coccidiosis.
Corid, Amprol, Amprid, Ampromed, are all brands that contain amprolium, the most common treatment.
Thank you. I think I have found some at a local feed store. I will start treatment today. My understanding is treat for 5-7 days then during the break give them vitamins and then re treat them in another 7-10 days. That sound about right?

If your meds are 9.6% solution then the treatment is 2 tsp per gallon of water for 5-7 days, make it fresh daily and make sure it's the only water they have access to. If they are slow to recover you can do a second 5 -7 days treatment at 1/2 tsp per gallon of water. No vitamins during treatment as that could reduce the effectiveness of the medication.
If you have any that are showing signs of illness and not drinking well on their own then give those an oral dose once a day in addition to the medicated water, instructions for that are here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/corid-oral-drench-instructions.1211991/
If they aren't drinking on their own you can also give the medicated water several times a day orally until they start drinking on their own.

Thank you! I have never dealt with this so I am learning fast and trying to find solutions available here. Most poultry products have been pulled from stores and only available from vets, but most vets aren't seeing chickens. So...its been challenging.

I know! Even those things that we are used to being able to get easily, can be a challenge right now. And some vets aren't seeing birds due to the bird flu outbreak. Glad you were able to find something.

Yes that is here too. Many vets stopped seeing poultry. Many of the OTC medications we use to have access to in Canada we can no longer get. I found a 1gallon jug at the feed store. That should last me a while. LOL but it was better than driving over the border to get it for about the same price with gas.

I got the Amprol. I have one in really bad shape. Butt was full of diarrhea and blood. I cleaned them up and moved them back to the brooder for quarantine. They are lethargic and have lost some weight.
Fingers crossed.
