Small bump on chicken's foot

Just noticed small hard bump between her toes today. Didn't seem to bother her when I pushed on it. 6 yr old Aracauna acting normally. Her Weight is same...heavy bird. On wood floor with pine bedding and concrete and dirt run with some monitored free roam most days. I only have 2 chickens. Should I take to vet have looked at or just monitor? What is it?

It doesn't look like bumblefoot, but it does look like some other infection, she may have got a sliver or such. You could lance it yourself, take her to a vet, or simply leave it be.

Well the chicken started limping a little so I took her to the vet. They cleaned the wound and put her back in her crate and she fell over and died. This is not a bird vet but she has chickens and studied chickens in vet school. I know her well and she is gentle and kind and takes care of our cats and dogs. Can anyone tell me what they think happened? so so sad

Thanks she was so sweet and pretty. The vet was very upset and sad also. I know she was gentle with her.
