"Small crest" breeds

Spitzhaubens have small crests.

You’re chicks are a mixed breed.

Yes, I think they are. Especially the first one since it has single comb, blue legs with feathers, 5 toes and most probably its a bantam. I'm not quite sure for the 2nd one though, since she has green legs and a small crest. Could be a legbar maybe..

Large crests like the Polish chickens’ crest result from a vaulted skull making the crest larger. Without the vaulted skull the crest is similar to the one found on Legbars.
Here are my 2 Silkie mix hens. Their father was a crested Silkie without a vaulted skull so his crest was similar to the daughters’. The mothers were non crested breeds.

Small crests are very typical of Crested x Non-Crested mixes. Yours are most likely Silkie mixes.

Thats what I thought from the start for the first one, since it has 5 toes and blue legs with feathers. Not sure for the second one, though as it only sports a small crest, green legs with 4 toes and it doesn't have silkie feathering. That's why I'm leaning more towards legbar or araucana mix
