Small eggs

Yay we have are first eggs? Question: they are pretty small. Is this normal? Can I do anything to help increase size?

Welcome to BYC -and congrats on the eggs!
Yes, it is entirely normal for the eggs to be small at first - they will get larger as the bird's laying cycle progresses.

Another question! If we are out of town for a couple days and the eggs stay in the nesting boxes for a couple days are they still ok to eat?

*I* wouldn't worry about it - in the winter months the concern would be freezing of the eggs, if heat related spoilage is a worry you can always float test and/or use the "crack and sniff" method by cracking each egg into a dish prior to putting it into the pan, bowl, etc so you can dispose of any that smell or look off.
