hiya im new to the forum and chickens!! i recently rescued to hens (highlines) i think from a not so nice local farmer. had them about 4 months now. they have settles in great and been laying fine then few weeks ago got a really small egg!! have since had 3 more getting smaller all the time!!! help!! i feed them layer pellets and loads of scraps. they are approx 2years old and i dont know who of my girls are laying these tiny eggs
I think as hens get older they lay less and smaller eggs. Also if they are molting it is the same.
I suppose you could always add oyster grit to their food. I believe also that scraps shouldnt compose too large a proportion of their diet.
Scraps should only be a "treat".
It is good of your to have given them a happy home. Hope you enjoy them heaps.
