I am a 44 year old, raised on a small farm in southern Idaho. We always had chickens growing up. When I moved home after college, with my own family, it felt natural to get,a,flock of my own, I began with black australorpes, and had that flock for, three years, when my neighbors dogs killed mist of my little flock. I gave the remainder to my parents. Two years ago, I began again and obtained red and black sexlinks. Also a couple of bantams as well. Last year, I hatched out a dozen copper Karan's, only to have a skunk kill my ten week old chicks.
This week, I am trying again, I have eight new bcm chicks just in time for Easter.
I have been married to my sweetheart for 22 years now. We have five kids, 19 year old triplets (2 sons and a daughter), a 13 year old son and a 10 year old daughter. They love my baby chicks almost as much as I do.
I teach middle school science and PE. I also coach 8th grade football, and the high varsity wrestling team. I love incubating chicks in my classroom after we have introduced sexual reproduction in my classroom. The kids love it! I also have two bearded dragons, and a pink toe tarantula in my classroom. Not your average farmlife, but it is my happy life.
When I am not caring for my critters, I love gardening, woodworking, and camping with my family.
