We're in the middle of a residential area. I can legally
only have 12 chickens on our property.
Right now, I have 9 adults plus 1 little chick in the coop outside.
But I also have 17 chicks in a juvenile pen on my covered back
porch where no one can see them. LOL

Welcome from the state of Florida.

I keep my chickens in a smaller catawabe coop. I have two of them and 6 chickens divided evenly between the two coops. I have 5 hens and one little rooster. I move the coops around the yard. So I treat it like a small space. I want to keep it clean for them and for me. My chickens are young. My oldest two are 14 weeks old and the younger ones are now 7 weeks old. So no eggs yet.

I do have a large property but most of it is paintball park.

Hi there! I live on a tiny lot (6000sq ft) with close neighbors all around and like you... A BIG FAT HOA which prohibits poultry. I have 6 hens in a side yard in an ark and so far no one knows but the person directly next to them who is on board. They have not started laying yet but have had some clucking. I have a bamboo windchime and fountain to help disquise them. If you didn't know what they were- they almost sound like a squeaky hinge or a rusty wagon getting pulled along. They are worth the risk- good luck with your endeavor.

We have an acre in a neighborhood on the edge of town. I keep my hens in a large 15'x10' behind the house. No complaints yet from the neighbors, but then I don't have any roos.

We plan on expanding our flock to 30 laying hens and possible 2 roosters by next spring, our property is 9800 sq. ft. total.

i'm gonna do a farmer's market!
