Smallest egg ever!

One of my girls just laid a tiny egg two days running, she is one year old and had laid normally nearly every day throughour the winter. Tonight I broke it open to find no yolk, very wierd as it coincided with the clocks going forward for the summer time

In 4 years of keeping chickens. Today I found the smallest egg ever under the roost.
It was in my Barred Rocks coop and I found it when I checked for eggs after 9 am.
I believe it was laid overnight. I didn't see it when I opened the coop at 5 am.

The strange thing is all my hens have been laying for weeks. So it wasn't the first egg since they resumed laying from winter break.
The previous small egg weighed 7 Grams. Today's egg weighed 4 Grams.View attachment 2071437View attachment 2071438

My Barred Rocks are 19 months old. GC
my smallest egg ever. Found this today with all the other eggs. I have 13 chickens but have only seen 11 at a time. Older layer or newbie? I dont know. It's so cute. I should weigh it. cracked it open! immature yolk for sure.

I wish I would have thought to weigh this little egg that I found in one of the nest boxes today. I’ve never had one of my girls lay a fairy egg before but I am assuming that is what it was. My girls have been in full production mode and laying for over a month now. I’m so curious as to which hen laid it. I just don’t know.

This is it after I cracked it open.

Craziest thing I have seen.
Not a fairy egg! A fairy egg is the result of another object, most often a piece of tissue, to be mistaken as a yolk and have shell-and-all formed around. That appears to be a very immature yolk, accidentally released and laid. Those would just be called micro eggs.

I recently got a small egg from my ISA Browns, 10 months old. Can you spot it?

I got a bunch of micro eggs last year, and one I turned into a fried egg for my pullets. They said “Yum!”
