Awhile back I had a Brown Leghorn that was consistently laying tiny eggs. She did eventually get with the program and start laying normal size eggs again. I have had birds over the years lay a tiny egg now and then but not like this bird did.

Oh yes they can...Alright, it can't be a chicken egg. They couldn't have layed an egg this small twice in a row! I opened one of them.
Oh thanks. I didn’t know there was something I could do about it. She’s not lower in the pecking order. She’s really mean with all the other chickens and she’s the smallest. She’s going to be a year old in February 3rd. She’s impossible to catch. I need to catch her today. She’s not acting normal. What I do is I give her a human calcium pill and the next day she’s find.I would make a separate post to the main group under medical issues. If she's young, it can take some time for their hormones to catch up. If it's a consistent issue, it could be that that she's not properly developed and it could just be a life long thing, which doesn't sound like a good way of life for a chicken. This is a really good article, it could be that she's got a deficiency that requires a bit of extra care, even though you may be putting out the right things, she may be lower in the pecking order and not getting to them. I would do the liquid calcium supplement and the ky in the vent on a regular basis and see if that helps. https://the-chicken-chick.com/chicken-egg-binding-causes-symptoms/
That is the tiniest egg I've ever seen. I had one once that was the size of a jellybean, but I think yours is a little smaller.Back in September, my hen hei-hei layed this adorable little egg. Took some photos, and when I cracked it there was even a little yolk inside! I was already pretty impressed at the size of this one... View attachment 2005315
But today, I stumbled upon the monster of all tiny eggs.. I don't know how it even is possible for a hen to lay such a small egg!
Not even sure who layed it, as they all lay in the same nesting box.

Length: 9mm
Width: 8mm
Im wondering if there's even anything inside.. The shell seems pretty thick
But there you go, that was my discovery of the day![]()
Hey, @Paulinefrn found any more, setting them up to incubate somewhere?I'm pretty sure it's from a gecko, and I might try to hatch the other one? There's definitely something going on in there, some blood vessels and some development.
I did notice that, but it has been interesting, at least to me. Over the years I have had quite a few tiny eggs from my birds now and then and have even found some gecko eggs around.Boy, this thread has gone way over the edge!!
Page 3 shows the mystery solved......no one bothers to read that far before responding?

HahahaI don't know if there's even egg white, with the thickness of the shell. I'll post an update whenever I make an omelet!
I have several like that, over the yrs. Probably an old hen and that is her last egg
