Smartphones and the BYC

No.
Debi was wrong. There is one more out here.

My husband tells his co-workers to text him if they have problems. He doesn't have one either.

It's the images that take the longest to load, ads, icons, avvy-s, etc. this forum isn't as bad as another one I frequent.

We have cable at home, and "mega computers" (or they were a couple of years ago) so I am spoiled. We do a lot of online gaming, so we have pretty high-powered processors, ram and video gear, but the phone is a heck of a lot easier to carry around!

I hear ya I have a pretty good computer as well so I know what you mean in that aspect. My pc has 4 gigs of RAM.

Unless you are making money by using the phone, I can see paying the price of the phone plus the bill. I have a tracfone. I almost never use it. It is mostly for emergencies and for Drs and thing like that. If I want to go online I use the computer.

Well our phones are also our home phone numbers. On the other hand my phone helped me look up some things this summer that may have saved our teenage sons life. He had a heat stroke and we began treating him based on what I found on the internet with my phone. Was great rather than waiting on a computer to boot and load. So the access to the internet via cell phone saved precious time, which is valuable when treating heat stroke where you need to know to take down the body core temp and fast. Obviously I won't probably have to do it again but it sold me as to the use right there.

Wait till the phone gets a little "old" and buy the older version and get the mail in rebate so it's practically free. My sister bought the Blackberry Storm when it first came out, and she paid almost $200 for it. I got it when they put it on rebate deals, it was either $50 or free after rebate, I forget now, but it was way less than she paid. They don't make it anymore, so I can't buy any new cases for it, but the other accessories remain compatable.

Yes I do spend half as much on my phone's data plan as I do for my home internet, but I also deliver pizza for a living and my smartphone doubles as a GPS. Before I had a job I had a Tracfone too, and before that I had a really simple phone on my mom's plan to save on the bill. Having a reliable phone is essential for my job, and the GPS is a handy feature as well (though not required). The Tracfone service was fine, but the phone itself was just really cheap - which would be fine for hubby since he has a bad tendency to wash his....

The Blackberry has been very sturdy and the design is pretty tough, it doesn't have any parts sticking out to get broken when dropped. My FIL had issues with cheap phones the charger port would quit working, and a phone you can't charge is worthless.

I had a Blackberry for 2 years. I used it to post here most of the time. My Verizon contract time came and DH got me a new dumb phone

My Droid (Eris), was my best friend when I've been hospitalized - I ok'ed with the nurses to have it on, I would always just set it down when they came in though, still have to respect face to face contact. I came on here, Facebook, tooled around the internet, played music, played games, texted friends, read the news, all sorts of stuff. I loved it. The nurses helped me move stuff in my room so that I could keep the charger plugged in and not lose the cord when I unplugged it.

I have an instinct. It's actually almost 2 years old...the first version made. I can post on here but it's a pain in the butt (unless I'm bored, then I don't mind

) 2 months ago hubby insisted I get the same phone as he had. So after going on the waiting list I finally got the HTC Evo 4G. While it was very easy to surf the web and post here....I hated that phone. A week later I returned it and got a Moment. It was easy to use on the web but I didn't get any reception on our property....so I returned that too and am now using my original Instinct. lol

I'm waiting till my plan is up next month to switch to verizon and get the droid incredible!
