Smell Like You Wouldnt Beleive!

My wife and I just came home to a horrible smell! We checked each individual egg and on day 20 had one that was horribly rotten..didnt smell it earlier when we turned them at 3???? Cracked er open and a baby chick with a head body hair and beak laid there! Soo Sad! Did it die then smell rotten or did it just die earlier and now smelling it like days ago??? On day 20 should they have feet and wings??? Thanks for any information??

sounds like this one died a few days ago.. at day 20 it should be pretty well formed.. feet, wings and all....

Do they always smell bad after they die in the shell? Even after a few days? or was this maybe some sort of bacteria?

today my wife told me she could smel a bad egg.. she is quicker than I am.. I checked batr #1 and found a cracked gg thatwas oozing.
I removed it and as long as I had that bator open I checked all the rest of the eggs.. WOWZA !! I found the culprit.. It was a goose egg that pipped at the wrong end and died.. I had to wash my hands twice to get the smell off..
