Gratuitous comment- Could be worse. I have a cat that had to have it's large intestine removed. I deal with the odor and residue daily. Won't go into anymore detail, but let's say; I wouldn't do it again.

Many cats can't tolerate the lactose in cow's milk. Some handle it fine, while others end up with diarrhea, gas, and cramping. If you are giving yours milk, you might want to rethink that ... cheese, yogurt, and cottage cheese don't affect them that way, though, in my experience.
Cottage cheese is high in Lactose. Yogurt and HARD cheeses are not. Any soft cheese is a potential lactose issue.
