FF is my sandpaper on a chalk board thing. It is a fad that has been picked up and become a religion to some.
There is no science behind it. When you ferment you change the protein/carb/nutrient levels of feed that has been designed by scientific methods over the years to provide a balanced diet.
You cannot find a credible study for it anywhere. I have searched and I found one, that said it was basically bunk, then they threw a bone to the FF crowd and said "it might make the gut more hostile to parasites"..... I think it was a University in Ireland that did the study.
What most people don't realize is FF was started by the energy companies. They started distilling corn for gasohol, with that came a ton of byproducts.
They started marketing this byproduct as the perfect livestock feed, (thus making money from their garbage)... and never expected to find such a Jones like cult following like they have for FF...
Whew... I normally try to avoid the FF conversation, other than my normal, I don't do it barb. BUT now I am on a roll..
The science of adding water, yeast and fermenting will give you more nutrition, more volume and make the feed go further just goes against the most basic chemistry class in the world.
I am amazed at how many intelligent people bought into it.
I really do not care what people feed their birds, just don't push pseudo science onto me.
That said...YOU DON"T USE ACV for everything???
I even use it to cure Rickets and Cholera in my birds. It is great!
