Congrats on the first peeps of your flock. I also am a blr wyandotte fan. He is my alpha and we are waiting on his babies now.Hi y'all! I'm Tanya and I am located in Grainger county. Right now I am incubating 3 mystery eggs. We are on day 7 and they are all 3 fertile. They were free and hard to turn down. This is my first time incubating eggs. These will be the first of our flock. We are currently on the search for some Columbian wyandottes or BLR wyandottes. The wyandottes will be the main breed when we have our flock all together.
Anyway, I'm super excited to have found this site and this thread of East TN locals.

And N.C. I have bantam Cochin and a couple silkies and some black and buff offs .also black jersey giants .oh,also I have a few others not sure of breed, but good layers.and I have a pair of yellow golden pheasants.I want to add to my silkies so if any one knows of good show or breeder quality, please let me know.
I do but no silkies.the only silkies I have left are roo's.that's why I'm also looking for silkies.in fact I only have two roo's and one is getting too old to cut the mustard.when I find some I will let you know,I live close, and have been looking for silkies, are your eggs fertile?
Well, I guess I would say look at the waddle compared to the others, also their saddle feathers are a tell. But that depends on ageI'm new to raising chickens and new to Eastern Tennessee. I moved to Elizabethton a couple of months ago from California(a slight change!) to be near some family after retiring from the Air Force. As soon as the boxes were unpacked, the chicken coop was shipped. I didn't know I had to put them in a brooder first. So needless to say, I have been researching everything chicken there is. Magazines, books, Internet, other breeders, the list goes on. I have become a true chicken enthusiast. I have 2 brahmas, 2 silver lace Wyandotte, 2 Easter eggers, and 1 SL Wyandotte rooster. I love to watch them grow. Most of their feathers have come in, but I still don't know which one the rooster is! I guess I will wait for him to crow!
Any advice for a new backyard chicken lover would be greatly appreciated.
