Smoky Mtn East TN

Hello from Greeneville :)
My first flock will arrive late May. Eight, day old chicks (a mixed flock). I'm working on finishing up their coop in this beautiful weather we've been having.

yay! Welcome to chickens! I'm more in middle Tennessee than east but I try to stay involved in all of the Tennessee groups. Be sure to take lots of pics. We love those!

Welcome to the group. What part of Greeneville are you located? I am off 321.

Anyone close to morristown keep guinea? or other great tick eaters? my collie gets covered in ticks when he chases things up off into woods. i hate them cause look clown like (i hate clowns..), but gf found a tick on her head arter i picked blocked tick out of ear for second or third time, and she is threatening to shave "her" poor dog and says he can just stay inside.. and be a house dog. we had turkey up here other night so wonder if why only found several ticks on collie today so far, and neighbors cattle are grazing smdown here again and they are always covered in tick and flys ect.

So yesterday moved a "duck deck" outside nestboxes, to clean under, and instead of fertilizer found a bunch of chambers tunnels duck feed pellets and a duck egg. i set a live trap last night but nothing yet. pack rats???

Let my eager and fav scovy duck drake in (Ferdinand), when called in the ladies for bed and snack (trying to get them to lay in nest boxes in old pen). This morn no evidence of nothing, but two new scovy eggs in nest that was empty. Drake blood on bill ect acting proud and stationed soldier like right outside nest boxes. looks like ill have to start letting him in even though was starting to get to be a fat lazy pig of bully (not nearly as bad as rest though).
