I have my older Americana bantam hen setting eggs now, and two younger ones that keep setting briefly then laying more on pile in one nest tossing two to four others out usually in morn. got tired of and just put the eggs in the fridge for food. I'm curious if the scovys will ever get decent eggs as had collected first few dozen or so now from nests of black and white meat line scovy hens as wasn't sure of fertility with freezing weather on and off still, but one started laying again and after few to several, am going to leave hers and a few others from chocos for her to do whatever with till may, then test ect.

my miracle hatch from bator troubles maybe messed up as developing problems, and had to cull one who's legs tightened up under and could only shuffle along one day suddenly, rest getting beak trouble twisting ect, one getting head shakes ect, starting to get twisted toes.
the two D Uccle chicks are perfect for some reason i can't explain other than were along side of bator.

I'm wondering if my Australian cattle dog/"red heeler" got preggo from another collie. she was receptive for two days and one day this collie (beautiful freakin dog nothing but bone and hair acting way better than acd and gsd did at first, not looking at stock even) got in pen but she attacked chased off and came back tore up from floor up, whining and begging for lovings like she hasn't even done before. now she is seemingly more confident and acting as pack and accepted by rough collie and german shepherd more than just told to tolerate puppy was before.

Hello again everyone! It's been a while since my introductory post and I've been busy building up my flock. I bought a quad of adult bantams sold as "Mille Fleurs" a couple weeks ago. I think that they are Golden Neck D'uccles but the Roo that came with them doesn't look much like the pictures of Golden Necks I have seen. He is almost completely white. I'll try to get a picture of him soon.

Bantam Pen

My two friendliest girls.

I also have 36 Barred Rock, Salmon Faverolles, and SFxBR-Cross eggs hatching today!

@skyline farms,
How old are your supposedly millie feurs? i don't know about golden neck color phase, but few breeders told me that the cocks especially can be all or mostly orange or white at first depends on something, but then developing other colors slowly as age up to one to three years old. my millie feur cock is getting beautiful golden eck, but is about over a year old just gotten the black in, being all orange as chick then getting white, then black. my porcelain hen was all purple as i say, as chick, then getting cream later, ect. I'm waiting for couple of chicks as they grow to see how they begin to feather out and then progress.

@redridge,
beautiful pups! I'm curious what pups wouldve been like if one of the local ones would have gotten on my Australian cattle dog, instead of her driving him off when came around after chickens (strong dogs but not enough speed to defend against her enthusiasm). something i never got about working dogs bred for flopping ears..

anyone else having this weather maybe suddenly attracting bold preds? oddly suddenly no yotes around border and skunks possums, woodrats, galore my dogs killed few possums and several skunks along with some hawks stupid enough to fly too low land on ground or hit fences (fledglings i think, as they're not to fence savy yet) in last couple weeks. My male scovy in pen with young ladies killed few wood rats at least and now no more coming to steal feed or eggs.. for now. wondering if all these ticks picking offdogs are from pests they are killing. were are coyote when you want them.

tonite we have two highway patrol cruising around looking for a horse running lose gone crazy (you can hear it screaming and thrashing as its running around), a pig supposedly running around screaming (i haven't seen or heard that yet), and a drug dealer that got away from them. Shepherd came back after dogs chased something, and she is planted on porch watching and growling, while collie patrols parimiter, and Australian cattle dog youngster runs crazily around wanting to chase any and everything.

@laughingdog an lgd bred to a herding dog would be... An interesting pet. They would make a terrible herding dog and could never be used as a true guardian. So. .. a pet. .. a big fluffy one. lol

Yes constructively controlling this virls prey drive was a challange at first, as haven't been. working with this pup how was taught and did the old shepherd girl (killed a colt, all of area and their pet cats, group of geese, large groups of ducks, and most of chickens, at last home), and was told to stop her from coming/peeing in and getting on furniture, to "roll up a newspaper real gold and tight tap it up and beat the he** outta her". She went for two cats and two chickens, since haven't had anything but good from heraside from hee accidentally crushing some poults that had brooded under her. ACDs though told they have to be kept apart from even each other on short strong chains except for breeding and even then get terribly tore up says local show paper breeders as "they'll tear apart anything and everything they can get ahold of".. this one somewhat of challenge as chases cats bad still, but dost hurt anything but hairdo and pride, and she still stared a hole in the tiny dutch hen chooks and KC ducklings, as likes lips, but now rest she is great with and they hang around her for protection and pests to dogs. Just while ago was shocked she didn't kill or touch even a mean drake that attacked her and was gulping down her breakfast (diamond brand, best i can afford right now but expensive enough) and she has been twitchy about food since been in heat. These young ladies ran to her while other two ran off a dog, but she was chained so got stuck soon with chickens and ducks all around her chain (60ft as all could find in that lightweight strength).

there are so many pyraneese left to wander and probly some like couple that were abandoned, that are so tock aggressive, that know its at very least partly breeding and training, that are stock killers, but one i took in first ACD i have, and neighbors say, seen around roaming even. I'm told online by probly better breeders that chaining and caging ACDs makes them nerotic and aggressive, so wonder if its just general perception and how taught from young, as told ACDs act like cross between collie and coyote as bred to be really prey driven and bully breed stubborn/rough n tough. My ACD still hunts small animals on own (rodents frogs BOPs songbirds stray cats coons possum skunk coyote) and has as pack brought home deer and feral goat parts and a feral pig leg (around hunting season so probly people killed), so i think she gets prey drive more out of system and stays full. lol. i think the pups would stay around a lot better, as anyone I've met says pyraneese even being most home bound of and general name given to most imported mixes of three pyraneese mountains guardian dogs, and they need to be fenced or chained or wander off for hours to days away from home and flock, were ACDs bred to be left with and stay close on open country for herding. together and along cattle. and also gaurding against preds and thieves. I'm hoping if she is preg which hoping she isn't, that pups will have her drive combined with laid back personality and herding style of collies. hope they get her coat too as love look of collies but burs and ticks are a bother, and love her coat and color. once she matures i may let my rough collie breed her as he carries rarer form of two blue merle genes rough collies can carry, and even with his inbred show blood and her whatever breeding but showing too much white over all and white star, she could only be bred safely for unborn even pups and then on after birth, to a blue merle ACD or various nicknames. because of so much white in her red coat (shows some bad gene matchup that can produce stillborns, death at and after birth, blindness, linked to deafness, and skin problems which she was showing due to allergies when showed up so maybe why was dumped by a breeder or someone who bought her.

They all just need to be fixed. Too many pups and not enough people willing to spay or neuter. .. And it costs little to nothing with so many spay and neuter clinics in East tn. Never an excuse for puppies.

I have a friend that is looking for one Buff Rock and one Colombian Rock. Does anyone have any available? They are looking to complete they large rock colors.
