Smooth feathered silkie?

    [​IMG] this is Oreo I was told she is a silkie but has smooth feathers she has the walnut comb, black skin, 5 toes with feathers on all. Does anyone know why her feathering would be smooth? [​IMG]. I Baught her from a show breeder

    She's a mix. The gene for Silkie feathering is recessive. Silkie to Silkie will only produce Silkied offspring. When you breed a Silkie to a non-silkie, you get normal feathered chicks. To keep the full crest, it's likely she's a Sultan or Sizzle mix.
