Anyone got any favorite smoothie recipes? I love smoothies in the summer.

I have one (It makes more of a frozen yogurt though)

1 1/2 cup Trader Joes Strawberry kefir (or any strawberry drinkable yogurt/kefir)
4 tbsp. Vanilla yogurt
3 handfuls of frozen blueberries
2 small handfuls of frozen mangoes

If you substitute the frozen fruit for fresh, it'll make more of a smoothie texture.

We eat so many soomthies that I wore out the machineBUT a new arrived today!! lol

2 cups homemade yogurt
2-3 very ripe bananas, frozen

Can add sugar or splenda to taste; my kdis eat it straight up. Very ripe bananas are very sugary!!

Son made this an hour ago using berries he had just picked:
6 ice cubes
1/2 cup berries like blue berry or black raspberries
1/4 cup milk
top with water
1/8 tsp grape splenda

We have tried many fruits; apples are the only we we all vote NO dont do it.

I our homemade yogurt over frozen pitted cherries-- does that count?? lol

LOL, yes we tried adding peanut butter and it was AWEFUL!!! Just nasty!! Never again!!! lol You would think the PB would be a great combo, it was NOT.

I like the keifer idea-- I have not tried keifer yet.

I make a lot of smoothies, mostly ones with protein powder though for post-workout.

This one doesn't have protein powder and is terrific. My kids love it too and ask for it frequently - they don't know there is spinach in it. Shhhhh.

A big handful of spinach
1 banana
1 cup berries (I use a mixture of strawberry, blackberry and blueberry)
1/2 cup almond milk (unsweetened)
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
2 TBS flaxseeds

Blend until creamy.

This one is one of my fall favorites.

Cook a hunk of yam in the microwave. (pierce before cooking)

In a blender, add 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, the chunk of yam, sprinkle in some cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. Add 1/2 cup or so of ice, depending on how big your hunk of yam is. Blend until thick and creamy. It tastes like pumpkin pie.

I'm definitely going to Trader Joes tonight to get some stuff to make these. Where does one find pomegranate juice? Would Trader Joes have it or do you have to make it yourself?

Most grocery stores have it - I'm not sure about Trader Joes. I get the Pom brand, it's more expensive, but it's pure juice. You don't use much, so it lasts a while.

Great timing on the yam-- my kids didn't want the very large yam microwaved like a potatto, which onthe latter will eat every one until the 10# bag is gone. FIgured to stretch their taste buds to the yams ( which they used to like but stopped eating a few years ago. and I dont know why.) No , no takers for baked yam. I cut it into bite size peices,a nd required each to eat ONE peice. THe smallest cut were selected!! lol BUt they did balk too much when I required one more chunk to be eaten.

"too Sweet" was one child's complaint.
