Snake ID

That is the truth. The doctor said no matter what kind go to the doctor. Especially when you see it turning black.................... been me, he would have had to call an ambulance not for the bite but more for the heart failure I would have had.

Glad to hear he is at the hospital now and being taken care of.

As far as thinking it is dead.... I know the rattlers here ( western Diamondback) can bite up to 45 minutes after they are dead so treat them with lots of respect even after you think they are dead. I usually cut the head off and put it in a can or jar and throw it in the garbage so my dogs or nothing else gets it.

It's also a common myth that young snakes have a more potent venom but they dont, they just havent learned how to control the release of it so they inject more than older snakes.

So glad you got him to go! Snake bites, no matter whether you think they are harmless or not, are an automatic visit to the ER. When I read black skin I knew that was bad.
I've have thankfully avoided snake bites, but have been bit by brown recluse, turantula, wolf spider, and some other type of nasty spider that I can't remember the name of. They can be just as bad as a snake bite.
Please keep us posted, and I'll make sure I say a prayer for him.

I believe that was sarcasm...... used in an attemt to knock some sense into someone, bit by a poisonous snake, who was calmly sitting back, thinking no medical care was necessary.

Beefy, I got it, my DH has the same dry wit.

It was not a venomous statement, he was just trying to inject a little humor into a toxic situation- and get the man's attention as to the danger he was in!

luvs, I am so glad he is getting treatment, and I continue to send best healing wishes to you all.
