lol It's also a fact that alcohol is commonly involved. Not making that up. Poor snakes get blamed.

Indeed. The snakes /need/ their venom. If they were going to use it, I'm sure drunk hillbilly would have been on the bottom of their list - far below things they can eat. XD Granted there are some aggressive venomous snakes who make plenty of venom to spare - it's just you likely wont find them outside of some really exotic places. X3 I remember watching some documentary on the worlds most deadly snakes where an expert in snakes had to go wayy out of his way almost in the middle of deserts to find them and even then he used a lot of words like "rare" or "elusive" to describe them.

If it had been a black rat snake, it would not have been so lucky...I do not tolerate those things at all. I have lost entirely too many birds and eggs to those snakes and have no issue killing them.

I don't like to kill kingsnakes, but will when they get into the strawberry netting over the chicken coop (designed to stop egg stealers). Relocation doesn't seem to work with them...

LOL, funny you should mention that, Roddy. Black Rat snake babies start off patterned pretty similar to that snake. I would help but it seems like you have plenty of it here already. Cute little thing. All I ever find here are gopher snakes. They're cool, but pretty common. There was a 5+ footer in the driveway of the ranch where we had my sister's wedding reception this past Saturday. Someone had run over the poor thing though.

Lol Well the only way you could carry gun here of any sort is if you have large acerage (100 aces plus I think) or you are in a gun club or your part of the illegal drug gangs lol. Thanks to one Martin Bryant who shot and killed so many people in Tasmania years ago it is illegal for the average Aussie to own any form of fire arm.
We prob do have a lot of poisoness stuff here but most like the snakes etc as long as you leave them alone they will do you the same. Crocs well that another story but they are only far up north and you just stay out of the water. You would have more to fear from a wild koala or kangaroo (wild ones are not friendly like they are in the zoo.) then a snake /spider biting you .
Good on you for saving the snake.( I just didn't want you to get bitten) I try to teach the oLd farmers around here that most snakes wont hurt you if you leave them alone but alas most swing with the shovel first and ask questions later.
