Yikes!!! I could never get used to the black snakes and we see them all the time here in Georgia.Usually the only snakes I have to deal with are black snakes. We like to keep them around though, so I simply just pick them up and move away from the chicken enclosure. It's not so bad once you get used to it lol.
I usually pull 3 or 4 rat snakes out of the nest box over a spring/summer/fall. They're quite docile. I just pick them up and take them to the edge of the yard/woods or let them go in the brush pile. I'd rather have them around than worry about the few eggs they get.
We have red belly black snakes, they are the only ones I’ve ever had in my coop. They are poisonous at least they are not as agressive as brown snakes
I’ve only had one kill a chick, they have never killed the others, they’ve tried but we saved them
