Snapping turtle breed - Info needed! MONARC23! **PICS ADDED**

Yes I would get rid of the gravel, it is much easier to maintain the tank without it, and like I said before, you run the risk of impaction.
 
Haha, funny you say musk turtle. That was actually what came to my mind when I first looked at it, but I didn't want to seem like an idiot so I didn't write it.
 
LOL, I had one when I was about 10, He was such a sweet guy, and actually what got me so interested in reptiles.
 
I have worked with many many turtles through a local reptile rescue I volunteer with. Everything from sliders and common snappers, to Alligator snappers (one over 40 lbs), and a Mata Mata. Not to mention various species of tortises, snakes and lizards.
