Just as the title said; a few days ago I noticed some of my 12 (pullets between 11-14 weeks old) sneezing. Just figured it was a windy day and something blew through the chicken run and got in their noses or something. More birds have been sneezing and tonight I noticed my Buff Orp with a runny nose. They don't seem miserable by any means but clearly they have something wrong. Is this cause for alarm? Broad spectrum anti-biotics (if so, what kind?)? What can I do, if anything, to help with a bird cold?

(Caveat: I won't take a bird to the vet, and I do know that limits my options for treatment because I'll never know the *real* cause, but I won't take a bird worth $18 to the vet, please respect that we're all different in our animal husbandry)

I had the same problem a few weeks back, and the majority response I got was coryza and/or MG. to prevent further spreading, I put down all birds showing the symptoms. Probably a little drastic, but I don't have the time/money to medicate. I did give the rest of my flock Duramycin for a couple weeks just in case

Um...can't birds get a cold just like people? Can Coryza or MG be treated with antibiotics? Sounds really rash of me to put down 3/4 of my 12 birds just because they're sneezing...

Watch their eyes, if its one of those two, their eyes will "bubble" and even swell shut...
