If a Vet has to write a prescription the State has the power to gather that info. In my State they would seize the entire flock. kill them all and THEN autopsy them. I have seen this done.

What disease caused them to do this?

I think that would have to be a severe, highly contagious disease for the state to seize and cull.
What state are you in??
I'd second Kathys advice and get to a vet to find out exactly what you're dealing with so that you can treat properly... good luck!

a friend called DEM and told them one of their chickens was sneezing. alll were round up and killed. months later they were told the chickens were not ill. I will wait.

Have you ever thought about calling the Rhode Island state vet and asking why it happened? I find it hard to believe that the state would confiscate an entire flock for no reason. Perhaps I'll call your state vet on Monday and ask, 'cause I'm curious.
