Sneezing or more?

My 1 1/2 year old Brahma hen is sneezing and she has her mouth somewhat open and it’s kinda like she can’t breathe, I just now noticed now putting all of my chickens into their shed. Is this contagious or lethal to the other chickens? What should I do and what is wrong with her?

I actually brought her inside since I don’t actually know what’s wrong with her and I don’t want my other chickens to be put at risk, she’s eating mealworms just fine...

Has she recently been coming out of a molt, or has the weather changed? How is the air circulation in your coop? Do you have good overhead ventilation? Sneezing right after eating sometimes is common, and they can get a small piece of food stuck in the airway. Dust, mold, or poor air circulation can make conditions ripe for respiratory infections. Have you added any new birds recently?

I would look for anything in her throat and beak for anything that should not be there. Look for any small bubbles in an eye, eyelid swelling, nasal drainage, or crackles when breathing.

We just changed the hay in their coop today, I haven’t added any new birds and she doesn’t have any of those other symptoms other than sneezing and wheezing. Shes also not molting or coming out of a molt. The weather here is cool, it’s dropping down into the single digits tonight through tomorrow.

Hopefully, it is just something environmental, such as the hay change or dust that has been a result. The weather getting colder may have brought on a respiratory disease. Make sure that she is drinking plenty of water. If she seems cold or is shivering, she may need some additional warmth in a 70-75 degree room.
