Snotty kitties **UPDATED POST VET TRIP!

We have an appointment on Friday morning with a new vet. I talked forever to the tech that answered the phone and she assured me that the vet was all about figuring out the problem and not just popping them full of antibiotics. Hopefully she'll help out.
So far as the kitties, they are acting fine. Neither is really wheezing right now (of course!) and both are incredibly active. They helped me chase off a possum the other night (and by helped I mean sat there staring at me quizzically as I jumped and screamed). Both are eating and drinking normally.
So fingers crossed the new vet can help.
Thanks for your continued interest. Hopefully I'll have an update soon.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

The new vet visit went well. She listened to the whole story, listened to their little lungs and generally poked around. The boys were angels (how odd!) and even managed to sneeze and hack for her.
Here is what she thinks:
She thinks that perhaps there was an initial allergy or virus that has now triggered a severe sinus infection. She said that their little lungs sounded just fine. What I thought was chest congestion was actually reverb from their heads. She poked around on their faces and said that their sinuses seemed tender. Certainly Dodger wasn't too happy about it. She gave them a shot of Convenia (an antibiotic) and dosed them up with some prednisone. I'll give them a dose once a day for the next 10 days. In two weeks we'll go back. If this helps she'll do it all again. She said she thought that because the last round of antibiotics helped perhaps we just hadn't done them long enough. She said that in cats the antibiotics should have been run for a month to really kill the bacteria.

Soooo... I will be shoving nasty tasty prednisone down their little throats and waiting to see what happens. Fingers crossed!
