Snow coming, must get to store!

Last week the Weatherman predicted five to seven inches of snow and we got three. That always seems to be the common theme around here, we never get as much as they say we will until today. They said on the 6:00pm news that we should get four to six inches and I got eleven inches!!! There is still snow falling but it is very light.

I never put the snowplow on my four wheeler this year because I have not needed it for the past several years. Today would have been a good day but the plow is buried in the back of the garage on the other side of my wifes car. That's ok, I got a bit of a workout but I used a partial sheet of plywood to plow the driveway and it worked great. My son then used the same method on the neighbors driveway. That one is long and goes up a hill! At first he was pushing it uphill but when I saw that i directed him to push it down hill and that went a lot easier for him. My son knows the couple across the street are older and the husband has had heart issues so he took it upon himself to do their driveway. He said that there was no way that man should have to go out and shovel his driveway. My son was alomst through when the husband came out and helped finish it up. He gave my son $25. My son told me that he tried refusing the money and told him that he was just helping out but the man insisted that my son take the money. Now other neighbors have called and asked my son to come and do their driveways.

People are crazy everywhere.....

We have a 3 foot base of snow that has been here since November....our normal temps are below zero F everyday....and it snow a couple inches every other day.....but,

When they forcast more then a couple inches...say 5-7...people go bizerk, just like everywhere else....except here they will drive 70 mph on snow covered road to get to the grocery store.....hell the sign says we can go that fast!

He is 15 soon to be 16. He has always been a hard physical worker but I have to stay on top of him with school work. His brother is 13 and would rather play than work but will do what he is asked to do. He also is willing to help the neighbors but I think he is more looking at the financial reward versus the reward of feeling good about what you have done.

I know my boys have a lot of love and respect for me and I have the same for them. I am always reminding them that they are a direct reflection of me so if they act like a fool or an idiot then that is what I look like and I do not want to be seen as that!

the only thing I make sure to have when its calling for bad weather (snow, storms etc..) is toilet paper, animal feed, and soda for me! lol We keep a well stocked pantry of food for the family but I cant ever run out of toilet paper, animal feed or soda

Love and RESPECT go a long way towards kids becoming loving and respectful human beings (as you obviously know!). I've always treated my daughter with the utmost respect, and she knows that must be returned. Since she was young, I always made it clear that to get respect, it must be given. If I caught her in a lie, I would ask her if she'd like me to lie to her. "Do unto others" has always been our mantra. She's now 19, graduated HS at 16 (2 weeks before turning 17), immediately got a job (at the same vet I used to work for), and started community college that fall as well. She was a 4-H'r for 10 years, and has always gotten the respect of the adults in her life. She does, however, HATE housework! Well, nobody's perfect and the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree (I like cleaning as much as she does

OK, that sure sounded like
