I'm new to raising turkeys. I have 2 beautiful Royal Palms; a hen, Snowflake and a tom, Tookie. Tookie has been strutting his stuff everyday, all day long but Snowflake just isn't impressed. They are usually free range (along with the chickens) but I put them in their pen hoping this would help. I have never gotten an egg from her, and my friends tell me their turkeys laid eggs all year. I want babies . . . does anyone have suggestions on how to help this along? I sure would appreciate it!

Hi Stephanie and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya

Beautiful birds. They'll likely mate just before she's ready to lay, but only if he impresses her. It's still a bit early in the year for her to lay. How old is she? If you let her set (if she's inclined) she'll stop laying once she's built a clutch of eggs. If you collect her eggs daily, she'll keep laying. If this is her first season I would suggest collecting her eggs daily and plan on incubating. Year old turkeys, in my experience don't set well, are clumsy and lack patience to see it through.
