Nicky, the only problem I see as of now is that the duck eggs will still need to be turned and the chickens eggs need to be locked down and humidity raised, which won't hurt the ducks. You shouldn't open the incubator while the chicken eggs are in lock down. You can bump your humidity to 65% to 70% maybe a little higher. Some people don't officially lock down till they see a pip, so you should be able to still turn your duck eggs, but as soon as you see a pip, don't open the incubator until the chicks hatch. I want ducks really bad. I'm hoping to bring some home from Ohio National Poultry Show. What kind of chickens and ducks are you hatching. I bet your kids are getting excited.

I am not sure what the chickens are they are regular small chickens just for eggs, which mine are dual purpose chickens because we are trying to go as natural as possible with fresh eggs, and chickens. We also raise turkeys, pigs, and cattle. This year when I started to incubate my husband told me that if they hatched and lived I could try incubating turkey eggs instead of buying them. Like I said i am just scared something might happen, this is my first time and all I have to go on was what I read on line until someone told me about this link and I had to check it out today and that is when I signed up. I am really glad my friend told me about this place.

My ducks are well There mom is a cross of a pekin duck and the dad was a Crested Blue Swedish duck and some of her babies I also have their eggs so they are all crossed but once I figure out how to post pictures I was thinking of trying to sell some since they are so pretty. They are blueish grey and white and just so pretty.

Lucky!! Congrats!!! I still only have the single pip that hasn't progressed at all. I do occasionally hear a peep, not sure who its from.

It seems like the 1st pip always takes forever! Don't give up! Im Rooting for your little ones!

Ok, the little bugger has opened the pip slightly. yay! And he's got a nice loud voice finally. Before it was so weak, quiet and croaky. I have a splash egg rocking like mad...the others nada. But i'm seeing some signs of life. I'm soooo excited. I'm afraid to sleep since I like to watch each and everyone hatch. But its 311 am....guess I better sleep.

Well mine didn't do so well again. The one that I helped has fused toes, (second time this happened in two different hatches) chick #2 was almost completely zipped when I went to bed, woke up this morning to it almost dead and chick #3 dead, this is all to me being stupid, I know not to open and help. Many things cause a chick not to hatch and deformities are one of them. Well lesson learned wont be doing that any more.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm not sure what causes fused toes. I had 2 out of 12 hatch. I think thats all I'm getting tho I'm bummed about that.
