So addicted! Set eggs 10/14/11! Who's my buddy?

Early pipper is out! I had to help a bit because she was gasping so bad and she was being held in by the towel...no matter how hard she tried she couldn't get out. I took out the cloth and in the process cracked the egg in half. I placed her back in and with one huge kick, she kicked herself out. She was still gasping pretty bad...but after 15 minutes, she's out of the shell completely and walking around. Not gasping anymore at all. So now these two babies are wreaking havoc in there. Poor unhatched babies.

good job!

Ughhh...when I went shopping my humidity was 74...came back and the humidity is 61. The one that had pipped looks weird. Theres a triangle piece of shell missing but the membrane is completely intact and very white. Did another get shrinkwrapped? and I have all the wells filled, one cloth soaked and a sponge in a cup of water. Why would the humidity drop like that? I also am very concerned about my early pipper. She is sooo strong and big...very big. But it looks like she has only 3 toes. Its weird looking, I can't get a pic but will soon. Has anyone heard of this? BUT I do have another pip so thats 2 chicks, 2 pips and 2 rockers.

I have read that if your humidity for the 1st 18 days was too high that would cause big "swollen" chicks. How was your humidity?

Hello everyone had very busy day at work and home isn't going any better. I think one more of my eggs was wiggling so I left everyone as is in the bator. I went to the store to buy all the things to fix the fused toes, now that I spent like 50$ to separate the toes, it doesn't appear to be fused, but I haven't taken it out yet, because of the egg that could be trying to hatch. I have one Blue and one Black Mottled D'Uccle so far. I really think that is all I'm getting, but just in case, I don't want to shrink wrap another. kvmommy that is how mine was this morning, except is was my fault for opening and closing the incubator too many times. My next hatch is going to be Silkies from CJs exotics and my Porcelain to test for fertility. I will be putting a sign on the incubator saying, "STEP AWAY FROM THE BATOR AND DO NOT OPEN"
Swissmiss989 congrates on the babies they are cute.
Who wants to join me with the next hatch. My Silkies will be sent out on the 7th and should arrive on Wednesday. Anyone want to play again?

Look closely at the toes when you get a chance they could be fused and not just 3, this can be fixed. http://successwithpoultry.blogspot.com/2011/06/maran-chick-fused-toes-surgery.html
Does it look like this chick

It does kinda look like that...but its hard to tell since he's in the incubator. When I get him out i'll check. I'm def worried about the other pipped egg with the thick white membrane. I wonder if I incubated too dry. Plus my humidity keeps dropping no matter what I do! I'm going to try to get cotton balls wet and shove them in the vent holes next. My two chicks are beatting the crap out of the unhatched eggs. I had one thats been rocking all the time since last night and now it hasn't moved in hours...and I'm checking it alot...it was next to one the hatched eggs so I got bumped alot. Is that ok?

I did the float test I tossed out 6. I had my DH open them and they were perfect babies. They died in lock down and I don't know why I'm so sad.
That leaves 4 in the bater.
Also I have one baby that is splayed so I have her fixed with a band-aid. Shes not happy at all lol

That really sucks! I'm sooo sorry.

But you got 4 hopefuls! I don't know why they do that but thats the worst...when perfect babies die for no apparent reason. Especially when you have ones that hatched just fine...then you really wonder why this could happen.
