So angry at My Pet Chicken I could scream!!!

I'd sure love to get their side of the story, too! :-( I'd LOVE to know how this kind of mix up happened...but knowing that they are being shipped from a hatchery and not them helps me figure that out. I didn't realize that. Not that it excuses sending chicks to someone who has asked them to not be sent, but it does definitely provide more opportunities for a screw up. It also makes the email they sent me all the more laughable...trying to guilt me into thinking that I was abandoning these poor little baby chicks who would have to go to a rescue. HA! And they don't even lay eyes on them! Incredible!!

I was just so livid yesterday morning that I vented. Part of it was trying to figure out what to do with these babies and make sure they got a home. It was actually much easier to find a home for them than I thought it would be.

I will definitely follow up with MPC and see what on earth happened...not that it changes or fixes anything now!

But I'm super perplexed that I was never given a tracking number via email. Wouldn't that be a standard practice?! Not that it would have made it ok, but at least I would have been prepared for these chicks to a better degree than I was. I was totally caught off guard.

Exactly. Just a broker or a shopping service. Now, there are two parties involved to make a mistake. Changing an order mid-stream is another way to have things screwed up, especially when using a middle man.
Yup. Never dealt with any of these types of "businesses" before. The name is suspicious anyway. It is a play on words to market chicks as "pets" where backyard chickens have become a trend. I can't tell you how may times I've seen people follow through the idea of buying an animal (s) but do not educate themselves on the particulars of raising them.

I saw a lady buying this expensive little coop for feed store staff to load into her Mercedes SUV. The coop stood 3 foot off the ground to use for the 8 Barred Rock chicks she just purchased. I told her the coop was too small once they become adults and it's height is designed for Bantams which are light weight and fly easier. I come to find out she was planning on using a heating pad underneath a 10 gallon fish tank with open feed and water bowls to house the recently purchased chicks.

I had to spend a few minutes explaining the proper set up, showed her what supplies she needed, and gave her a book and website recommendation. I told the feed store owner, who I've known for many years, their staff in charge of chick sales needs to take the initiative to be more informative to people wanting to purchase chicks.
