So angry! Neighbor is an IDIOT!

I simply don't put up with neighbors like that, or their dogs. I don't file complaints with the local police, and I don't give them a second chance once warned. I don't know about MN, but NY Ag & Market Laws give property and pet owners specific rights in protecting our property, pets. Those laws also specifically hold us "harmless" against law suits from people like your neighbor. One good thing about living in rural areas is that most of our Justices are farmers themselves.

If my neighbors dog killed one of my layers and then made the statement, "...[you] need to accept it", they would find themselves paying me three times the value of the chicken; a resonable amount for future eggs, in addition to civil and criminal fines.

i agree but i wouldn't shoot the dog i would feel bad

Decide what actions you want to take. If your going to SSS the dog then take no other action let things settle down and wait for the right moment. If your not going to go SSS start complaining take pics and buy a bb gun or sling shot.
One of my neighbors dogs who is a wonderful animal. But she is part coyote, and was out at my pen going back and forth chasing my girls. I happen to know that she is gun shy, so I grabbed a cookie sheet and a spoon and banged them together. She took off and has never returned. But she has never bit anyone and is very loving. I keep firecrackers on hand for her if she ever gets brave enough to return.

Do not make threats of harming this animal to your neighbor, to animal control or anyone else. There have been a few cases around here where the law allows an animal owner to protect his livestock. The dog gets killed while attacking livestock and the local animal-rights femanazi reports it on the evening news, costing the shooter a bundle in legal costs.

Kill them quietly with tip-up snares, body traps, or a gun if you can do so without being heard or seen. Several manufacturers make rather inexpensive pellet rifles that will kill a lab-sized dog easily with proper bullet placement. I would only consider a pellet gun that shoots a lead pellet at least 1000 feet-per-second. Then, bury or burn the predatory animal completely.

WHAT THE H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?

The comment was intended to show the social acceptability of killing dogs while at the same time advising people not to kill out of anger but rather out of necessity for meeting one of our basic human needs. Eat what you kill.

Gets down on her knees and thanks the Lord above that her neighbors are all weekenders from NYC who are rarely around.

I do have an issue with a German Shorthaired Pointer who is a champion gun dog. Has won compititons here and in Germany. BEAUTIFUL dog. He comes through and visits, but this was before I had chickens. Jackson my LGD is now maturing, and every visit, it went from my dog being a submitting to an older intact male as he was a lil puppy. Now Jack is a maturing Intact male, and I fear that it will be a horrible situation if he comes back.. Dog travels 2 miles from where he is, to get to me, it's always that he has gotten out, but I pulled in my driveway last year, and saw a hen from my neighbor who was renting for the summer in his mouth. Still alive mind you, but he was no doubt bringing it home to his master. AGGGGG! I put the car in park, and screamed at him to "Leave it", and he dropped her. She had a small puncture,,, very small. Thank goodness he is trained to mouth softly. Thing is... I am sure evverything he gets to is all ready dead, I am sure the chase was awful to see,, as she was so traumatized for about a day. Thankfully she was ok, and I hope he never comes back here!

Good luck with your ignorant neighbor situation,
I hope it doesnt' get worse!

That is just to gross! Sorry does that mean when you spray round up on poison ivy you should eat it? Don't even answer that. Like I said before a dog that will bite a child is a dead dog in my book!
