Long story short, came home to my first egg today!! So exciting!
Due to the wildfires here in Oregon, the air quality has been abysmal and we brought the girls into the laundry room in a make shift container on Tuesday.
Yesterday one of my girls was acting super weird and she just looked uncomfortable (that's the best description I have). My boyfriend said today they were acting super agitated all day, so when I came home I checked on them and was making the decision to move at least my older ones back outside. The air quality was much better today and I new the older ones were close to laying "at anytime".
Well, as I was on the phone with my sister in law to validate all her chickens were still alive I looked down and saw an egg on the floor in their little enclosure. Holy cow I'm so glad none of them stepped on it or jumped down from the roosting bar onto it. Oh that would have been devastating.
All the girls are back outside now and loving having more room, and now those new nesting boxes can get some use finally.
Woohoo!!
It's kind of a green color honestly. The hen that I'm 99% sure laid it is a barnyard mix that has possibly some barred rock in her. I attached a picture of her from a few months ago. Good job Bernadette!
