Granny's gone and done it again

Look here. I went out to gather eggs and I found Moon Shadow, my Ameraucana cockerel, whispering sweet nothings to one of the Black Australorp pullets as she prepared to lay her egg on the coop floor. I've never seen a male do this before, I was quite touched.

I had a buff orpington cockerel who would get into the nesting boxes and wiggle his tail all around to make a proper nest all the while chattering to the watchful pullets whose attention was riveted on him.

Now I have a bantam barnyard cross rooster who will do the same thing only the hens ignore him and drop their eggs in the bedding....go figure.

Well today I separated our two wyandottes from the rest of the flock, and had them free range with our free range rooster. They did really well for the most part, but I did feel sorry for our rooster that is with the main flock and he sat at the end of the run and cried for them. I know it's better for the flock as a whole, but it still made me feel bad!

Just curious why did you separate them?
We have a silkie bantam rooster named Romeo that knows he is a handsome dude and all the girls want to be with him. He will do his feather dance around hens twice his size and fight any rooster that tries to intervene. He has a hen of his own (her name is Juliette of course) and she is the only hen that will let him mount. This morning, when I let them out, he decided I was worthy of his attention and did his dance around my feet. I told him to keep dreaming! He looked up at me like he knew what I was saying and went to stand guard beside Juliette at the water fountain. I started my day with a good laugh.

Morning all, Cynthia, most of the bumps are gone, It still hurts though. I still have this cough. Not sure if Im bouncing back from all this mess.
Bronwyn too, but not contagious. Austin is now getting worse. :(

I'm good, thanks. Knees are doing what knees are supposed to do. All is well here, no complaints.
Glad your knees are good. I have an appointment for a shot in my knee next week. Insurance won't do the gel one until 6 months. So next month. I made it a year before but I messed it up turning wrong on it.
Also, same dr., trying to see if cortisone shots in my shoulders will help with these Occipital headaches.
