So Excited I did most of it myself... FINISHED! Update on page 4

So last Saturday DH was supposed buy a new coop for me---well he said they went too high at the auction ($350 for a 6x6 coop) SO... I said okay fine we will build one. DH looked at me like WHAT? He is not a carpenter to say the least. Took him 2 days to figure out 4 nest boxes...anyway.. lol I went in the house and made a list...and off to Lowes we went. I only needed his help unloading and I have done most of this myself! I am so proud.

He will put the tin on, but I have done the framing myself. I still need a few more 2x4's for wrap around boards and to make the people door...(didn't have enough on my list! oops! he is picking them up today...)

It is 8x8 (don't mind the mess in the yard...need to clean it up I know!)

I think we will put the meaties in it first, and then we will add nest boxes and use it for more hens...which means I can have more since I have the room!

Should finish it tonight when DH gets home...I just put the last piece of tin on the side. The tin doesn't match because it was scraps left over from other projects, but I don't really care nor do the chickens lol!

Already have Miss Iris the EE...she decided to go broody 3 days ago...I think she likes it. Will hopefully be able to move the meaties in tonight.

Awesome Job! My DH can't build anything either. I do all the building, but he does the grocery shopping and washes the laundry faithfully every Sunday (two things I hate). So I guess I'll keep him

Great Job!! It looks like you are off to a great start. Who says you have to be a carpenter to build a chicken coop? You just need a little grit in your craw.

DH has taken the job of building my coop.

I told him I was going to start on it, and what does he say? "You're going down to the basement to use my power tool? By yourself? Why don't you wait for me to get home babe, I will help you" (and by "help you" he means do it and have me bring him sweet tea when he runs low

)
