I need to vent. no pun intended.
I have started to feather sex my chicks this year, and I am rather pissy about it. My first hatch I only had 2 females out on 15 chicks, this most recent hatch ( 2 days old ) I have 19 males and only 7 females.

actually, in poultry it's the female that determines the sex of the offspring, not the male. :)

Haha that's frustrating and weird. It seems usually its like a 50/50 rate or 1 male to every 2-3 females. That's how it has been for me when my hens hatch their eggs.
