Yup, my little Cayuga layed her first egg this morning!!!
Last night I had to move the ducks to the feed room/brooder room for the night and today because we're finishing thier half of the big pen.
anyways, i went in to feed and I saw this black thing laying on the floor, and I was like

I have a couple questions
1. is it normal for the black on the egg to come off??, the egg was wet when I picked it up, and some black stuff came off on my fingers.
2. she let Mojo(Ancona x pekin mutt) mate her yesterday(the ONLY male she has let breed with her in a long time). I've been waiting and waiting for her to lay so i could incubate her eggs PLUS so she could start brooding, anyways since she was JUST bred before this egg was layed, whats the likely hood of it being fertile? because I was thinking of throwing it in the bator
but if it's not gonna be fertile I won't bother.
