came home to find.little lifeless Silkie bodies scattered all over their pens......... The water buckets empty. ......i just filled them up that night and they always have lasted till the next evening. I normally check them but had to go close on my old house so i was gone most the day. All those years of breeding.....of joy and love....... Gone. I can only think that some of them started standing in their water and their feathers absorb a lot of their water.... I just don't know. I've had some of these birds for six years or so..... I still have a few......nd my bantams beside them were fine...just the Silkies..... I just don't know. I really just don't feel like doing this anymore.......

I'm so sorry for your loss

I am so sorry for you. I am constantly worried with this heat
. We can only do what we can (and most of us more). But sometimes Mother Nature just can't be beat. You said you have some survivors....don't give up...they need you now more than ever.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my favorite partridge silkie hen to the heat. The heat is a rotten thing.

I'm so sorry! But don't give up, like kaybats said, the others need you. Bad things happen, but it's the best of us that can get through those things. I just lost my blue partridge silkie cockeral about 4 days ago, not to the heat though.

That must have been horrific for you to come home to seeing your girls dead. Of course you are feeling heartbroken, and you will be for a while. Just remember, you did everything you could at the time. It's hard with chickens.
