This is what I purchased from Wally World to use when that dreadful day comes. I haven’t used it on any birds yet,
but I have used it on my tomatoes.

If you do need to powder in the future putting some in a short nylon stocking works pretty well.
Like a powder puff from days of old.![]()

Yes. I purchase the Poultry and Garden powder. I dust the fire ants that try to take over my chicken run and the aphids that try to take over my tomatoes. Works like a charm...every time.Hmmm.... Works on tomatoes, you say? Iiiiinteresting!
I wonder if a plastic container like a restaurant mustard/ketchup bottle with the pointy top would get it where you want it to go. I may try this with some DE, to see if it works.
Nope, so doesn't sound like you need to treat anyway. But good to be prepared...so you might want to get some liquid permethrin, much easier to apply with one of those quart pump bottles. I use spray in the summer and dust in the winter.Lice and mites don't fly, correct?
Yup - those work, too. You can get them at your local dollar store.I wonder if a plastic container like a restaurant mustard/ketchup bottle with the pointy top would get it where you want it to go. I may try this with some DE, to see if it works.
Another easy applicator is one of the small baby powder shakers - the travel-sized ones you can take along in a diaper bag. I used the powder, myself (a great cool-off on a hot day) and refilled the shaker with the bug powder. It's small, it's portable, it's easy to dispense with one hand and it's resealable. Easy-peasy!
I guess that's one way to keep your kids from "bugging" you!Make sure you re-label that shaker! “Oops, honey, I done dusted the kid!”

Do you sedate them first?ROFLOL.....get a small plastic tote, and pour the powder in. Lift a chicken, and set it in the tote. Scoop small handfuls of powder onto the back, extend the wings and do them, do under the wings, now move down to chest, underbelly, and vent area. Put a tiny bit on your fingers, and start rubbing them in the comb, top of head, ears, and waddle areas. Now let the chicken go, and move on to the next one.
