So how is Zane doing?

Well, that's a good sign!

John, I was looking at your links when the net went down. Thunderstorms are rolling in so I may be cut off at any moment. Thank you so much for all the time you put in researching my issues with Zane's treatment! I got to read part of it, though. The wet to dry dressing mentioned is something I have used with bumblefoot. If we could manage a wider incision without causing Zane too much pain, I could try that with him. I bet it would work!

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you don't have to go that route, but I can't imagine he could be in better hands!

Improvement! It wasn't that long ago you posted he tried but, couldn't mate, now he can!

Remember small steps forward are better than backward! Even when we want to see a big improvement for our animals sometimes the small ones are best!

How sweet! Thank you, John. We often feel inadequate with poor, amiable Zane, but so far, we haven't caused him any harm and he is much, much better than when we started. I can't believe that he hasn't even tried to bite me while we're working on him, no matter how much pain he's in. He's a gem, which is why we're continuing the fight.

wow, I am so impressed with this wonderful guy.

You know if you go back to the beginning of Zane's problems and re read them, it is amazing what all you all have gone through and how far he has come. Good job to you and Tom. By the time this is over...................you will be the vet at large here.

No, no vet jobs, please, LOL! It has been three months now since we started with him. For awhile, he looked close to death with no color, no body mass, curled over comb, etc. Now, he's actually mated one of the hens again! You're right, Carrie, he's made major strides back to full health and mobility. And thanks to all of my BYC friends who have cared for Zane and kept me going. Hugs right back at ya!
