Thanks everyone for being there - it really helps.

Yes, we talk on the phone every evening. I wait with baited breath for the phone to ring.

We live out in the a rural area so only have the cat and chickens to talk to.

I decided this morning that I'm only to make myself a long list of things to do - clean out the closet, organize craft supplies, clean the garage, etc.

I just started a knitted beaded bag - like the kind women carried in the 40's - so that should help with passing the evenings by.

Nancy, I feel for you too! We live between Anderson and Redding. My parents are in Grass Valley - so in your neck of the woods.

Well, off to the kitchen to get some canning done. Again, thanks for being there this truly is the BEST website happening.

Another thing my husband and I do is send a ton of pics. Of EVERYTHING! Yesterday I sent pics of our Great Dane puppy looking pitiful at his vet appointment and the kids' new hair cuts. It could be anything from what I cooked for dinner to a chicken's first egg. Get in a bubble bath with wine and candles, snap a quick cell phone pic and send it with an "i wish you were here" when he totally does not expect it. Trust me, it helps a LOT!

those are some good ideas!

Try to schedule a trip or two to visit him--turn it into a sort of mini-vacation. He may have to work during the days, but is probably off in the evenings, so you can go out in the evenings, and do some touristy stuff.

Well, the inevitable has happened - he just left a little while ago. I didn't :hitcry until after he left. He was really sad to leave as well. Our love for each other is so strong after all these years and we know that it is only a short time but still hard on both of us. Our cat Bella is going to miss him too since now she has to stay outside all day until I get home. Mark lets her in throughout the day and she has a bite to eat and takes a nap in thenice cool house.

I'm planning to go down and see him over Labor day weekend and have to ask our neighbor to come in and oversee the chickens. Living this life is wonderful but the more we become self-sufficient the more we are required to be here to see after things.

We went over all the watering systems and I still need to plant winter crops - but then again I need to keep busy.

We had a wonderful day yesterday - went to see Julia & Julie and it was wonderful - made a great dinner - so it was a nice send off for him.

Again, thanks to everyone for your kind words and thoughts - going to do a super cleaning job on the house today to keep myself busy.

Awww....so much good and sad in this post, but its mostly all good!! Great that he has such a great job, great that you have such a wonderful place, and great that you have such a wonderful hubby. Actually, it all sounds good! So keep busy, count the days, and before you know it, he'll be home.
