Does she purchase chicken at the grocery store? Has she seen how they are kept? Some people let their mouths move before their braincells fire. OSunds to me like your doing a wonderful job. Heck you even take biosecurity measure. My family thinks I'm nuts when I make them wash their hands and spray their shoes before they get to touch my chickens.

When she said I was cruel to chickens and should not own them I really thought she was joking at first because I am the exact opposite. I treat my flocks very well I certainly dont let them out to get attacked every day because I have some messed up sence that it is better to have a chicken that lives only a few months and ends up food that is happy free ranging than to keep a chicken safe in a coop and run with occasional free ranging (supervised) for many years. Oh and I really dont think my chickens are unhappy could they be happier yes I am sure they would love to run free until the many cooper hawks, cats, dogs, and foxes get them.

I dont know if she is a vegitarian or not but she was complaining about her many extra roos and tried to pawn them off on me until I told her that I raise organically and all my extras go in the freezer if I cant find homes for them. she did not respond and I was busy trying to get the chickens for her friend so was paying little attention to her reaction.

lol I havent even updated my new coops that were built this spring so there is 5 times as much space as before. My layers live in a coop 5 times the size they need if not more lol

If I was the buyer, I would have taken her, "the friend", on a field trip to the slaughterhouse.
She can see how poorly those birds live, and then compare it to how yours have a nice long, enjoyable life free-ranging.

2- In Ireland we call it a 'loaf', in the US i believe its called a headbutt.
