They told me that I "needed to take such and such" because I was "having panic and anxiety attacks" instead of running more tests to see if maybe. Just MAYBE I had had a small heart attack the day before.
After I made an appt with my cardiologist he told me that while there have been no changes in my KNOWN heart issue, It may have played a part in the episode when a small blood clot went through. Nice.
BTW I am not prone to panic attacks. At my age I am pretty sure I KNOW MYSELF.
So. I went to the PCP a month or so ago, maybe longer because my ankle was hurting. They sent me for x rays. They got em back and called me to tell me there was "no breaks or fractures" But they wanted to send me to PT. Told me to stop walking on the treadmill. After I told them that walking actually makes it BETTER!
I did not go to PT but instead called a podiatrist and made a appt. Which was today. Guess what?
I have a fracture, some other "changes" Not enough space between the bones in there. And a BONE CHIP that has been there a while, according to the specialist. Very nice man. Because there is calcification around it that looks to be years worth of it. Makes sense since I have been hurting for several years, just has gotten progressively worse. So it isnt like this bone chip JUST happened.
I guess I have about 2degrees of flexation (up/downward motion) in the ankle. I guess at minimum I should have 5 degrees.
Since he couldnt see exactly "why" or what is going on with just the xrays I now have another scan (either CT or MRI cant remember) scheduled for next Friday morning. And then we go from there.
He told me to keep walking if it helps. Gave me some recently FDA approved topical pain gel to try out and said he is not ruling out anything right now. If PT helps then we go that route. I(f not then surgery. But right now he wants to know what is going on before he sends me to PT. Doesnt want to cause "more damage to the ankle"
I am really thinking I need to find a new PCP. Regardless of how much a PITA it is. Or how far I would have to travel for a decent one. Either that Or I just keep going to specialist. I do have a derm appt the end of March.. since the stuff the office told me to use isnt helping at all.
