So... I want to make a Crock Pot Incubator...

A brief summary...Let me know if I should add anything else.

Hatch Rate
- Started with 8 eggs
- 4 were infertile
- 1 had a meat spot, quit around day 2 or 3
- 1 Early Quitter around Day 5
- Chick 1 hatched on Day 20
- Chick 2 hatched on Day 21

Temperature
- Thermostat was set to 37.4C for the first 5 days, then raised to 37.5C
- Water temp range: 37.3C to 38.6C
- Air Temp range: 36.2C to 37.2C

Humidity
- Humidity Day 1-18: 50%
- Humidity lockdown: 70% with spikes to 80%

Handling
- Eggs were candled almost daily after Day 7 sometimes twice a day
- Eggs were handled and candled throughout lock down.

Cleaned out the crock pot. Water was surprisingly clean. No smells. Easy clean up




Set thermostat to 32.5C for the babies. It’s a little on the low side, but the ceramic crock tends to keep upping the temp for a while even after shut off, so it’s better to set it lower.

I had the privilege of watching the second one zip and hatch

It’s now resting in the second little box in the crock pot. I turned down the thermostat to 37C.

I’ll make a temporary brooder from the crock pot until I figure out exactly how I want the brooder set up to look like.

I wasn’t expecting just two to hatch initially, so the cage I had prepared is a little large :/

The inside of the second egg is a lot wetter than the first, I think it’s due to the larger pip hole and high humidity...?

I’m so envious, a warm setting would have made this incubation more stable for sure!

I was about to draw up my set up for this hatch. I’ll post it up when I’m done I’m sure someone will cone along one day and make much better mods.
