So... I want to make a Crock Pot Incubator...

I fed the meat spot egg to my cats today  Did some reading on meat spots, and it seems like they rarely develop.

The good news is, that the 3 fertile eggs are growing.

I won’t candle again until day 7, I’m pretty sure the other 4 are just floating yolks... but I’ll give them the extra 3 day too...

I got a bluetooth govee thermometer to track the temp above the eggs in real time. The air temperature is only 35-36C. I’m wondering whether I should turn up the heat. The side of the egg that is in contact with the water is 37.5-38.2C and I don’t want to risk cooking the eggs.

The drop at the beginning is when I turn the thermostat down 0.1C...
The huge dip is when I take the towel off to turn the eggs.

As you can see, humidity is being heavily influenced by the environment. We just ended a few days of rain, so it’s dropped dramatically (from 70% to 40%).

I’ve decided to let it be until day 18

If you mean the top, it’s covered by a folded towel.

Do you know how much ventilation is needed? I read that more oxygen and humidity is needed toward the end of the incubation, but couldn’t find much about pre-lockdown needs.
I would think removing the towel a few times a day, which you would be doing to turn, would provide adequate oxygen during incubation, until lockdown. I've seen hatches fail completely because someone left their vents closed.

ah, yep, i do take it off about 4 times a day to turn the eggos.

I guess I could also lift the edges a little with a straw or something. I don’t think that will affect overall temp retention much.
