How many are you capable of fitting?
Medium:
We went from shipping 12 eggs up to 15... I have had people told me they could ship up to 24 eggs in them... (err, 25). Has anyone done this? I was thinking I could cut those dozen egg cartons in half and cushion them in on their sides.
Large:
I went from shipping 18-24 up to 30 and then managed to smoosh another 6 in to total 36 - now I use the 18-pack egg cartons... was wondering if I could ship out 36 eggs in dozen cartons on their sides?
I have seen people ship eggs in just bubble wrap that are then bubble wrapped as a whole - I don't feel safe doing this, so haven't tried it.
I will post pictures of my shipping habits, but I personally bubble or foam wrap each egg after wrapping them first in paper (for easy removal).
Snug them in a carton, Tape the carton shut - sometimes I put a piece of cardboard on top and on bottom for added protection.
I them bubble wrap the egg cartons and snug them into a box that
1) is reinforced with more cardboard or 2) is reinforced with heavy paper padding OR 3) both
I've had about 5 cracked eggs out of 20+ dozen shipped eggs lol so I think pretty good... lol
I heard packing them in sawdust/wood chips/shavings can produce eggs that have been "poked" by the wood.
Who knows. Just trying to figure it out
Anyone ship eggs in any other way than stated above?
Also, who does not ship eggs wrapped in bubble wrap?
I've had a few eggs in foam (literally someone CUT out holes for the eggs) and eggs wrapped in napkins only... only 1-2 broken at times. I don't think it is safe though.
ANy thoughts? Ideas?
