During the day he free ranges around the property and enjoys his robust sound (he crows at every sounds) and he follows me around and acts all pretty. He takes treats right out of our hands.

Today he jumped in my car and then followed me into the house.

Do all Roo's do this or just mine?

Here is Sir Ian

He's lovely and I have always had roos who are like that- but I keep hearing folks talk about nasty roos and I just don't get it...I simply haven't seen one or experienced it...and I have over 20 roos now, and have had a good many more over the years.

All my SF roos are pretty sweet. Most of my roos are pretty good, it's normally my tiny D'anver roos that are Demons... LOL. I've had a few mean ones, but it is out of hundreds of birds.

It's typical behavior of a socialized roo, yes. There are a whole lot of personable and people-interactive roosters - in the good sense, like yours!

I have quite a few roosters too, and don't have a mean one in the bunch. I do have a hyper-vigilant and obnoxious little Silver Sebright rooster, but when he flogs my ankles, I pick him up and carry him around for a while. He remembers who is Boss, then.

He is beautiful! I love his black beard!!

You are lucky

he is a handsome feller. Nice to read about folks good roosters. Too many posts on the naughty ones.
He sounds like a keeper.

Mine is goofy like that too.
I hear the rooster horror stories...I had one who was nuts, he wasn't mean to people...he just didn't want you to love him and snuggle him...so he found a home where he would be nothing more than a lawn ornament...figured he'd be happier that way.
My roo however....he hangs out in the house....a lot.
He takes baths, gets his nails filed. I flip him over to file his nails and he doesn't struggle at all. He just looks at me until I'm done. When it's bath time, he stands in the sink...kicks his feet around a bit...splish splash. He comes running and flapping when he hears me, especially if he hears me calling him specifically. Seems like the roo's get more attached than the hens do.
Your Roo is beautiful, he looks like my Artek who I had to give up recently...

I had 5 roos and some crazy hens...had to part with 3 roos and some crazy hens because we put the two coops together and it just wasn't working out.
