So I've been wondering...

My girls have been laying since the beginning of August, so four weeks on Friday. Anyway I have been wondering how long it takes before the eggs become the 'normal' size. Today I went out to find a HUGE egg.

I couldn't believe the change from one day to the next. Check it out.

Anyway that's only one of my girls, I'm hoping the others will catch up. Man she is so good at this.

Wow - she really did it.....Chickens seem to just do the egg thing in their own time....I would think that they all will have more normal sized eggs soon. But then I only got my chickens in spring.......

Some of mine have started laying bigger eggs. They have been laying for a couple months. Some still lay smaller eggs, like my brahma. Breed index says they lay large eggs? Maybe just because they are a slow maturing breed?

I've also read here that the eggs get bigger after they molt.

What about the color difference. What's the story with that???
