What's really funny, is HE buys ME tools for holidays... LOL!!

Now that's a supportive husband. I'd take power tools or feed store gift cards any old day over anything else.

Sweet Cheeks one of the best presents he ever bought me was a gift certificate to the local feed store for a Christmas present, and I am not joking

I am not trying to hijack this thread though and I am glad that the hardware cloth is up and the chickens will be safe tonight. All's well that ends well!!

I dont even have too touch the power tools to get some attention for my 'to-do' list. I just ask 'now which drill/saw/machine do you want me to use for fixing that door?'
The mere mention of my touching the tools is enough to get things moving.

And, when we buy new and improved models of tools, I get the hand-me-downs.

He knows better'n to buy me ANYTHING pink!! I hate it...lol

I have my own tools, too...and not a freaking one of them is PINK! I refuse to have a pink tool of any kind! Not even a screwdriver. I bought a skil saw yesterday to use when I start my coop (which I should have done this weekend, but we rode our horses instead). And I LOVE my Ryobi drill! Woe unto anyone who messes with my Ryobi! Anyway, after 20 years of marriage my DH would absolutely know better than to sell my old coop before the new coop was finished! There was no excuse for that, unless he was willing to predator proof the new one. It is so funny...here in our household the worst fights we have ever had was over Christmas decorations! His method of packing up decorations (no matter how fragile, sentimental, or expensive it is) is to just throw them in a cardboard box, even though I have special plastic packing boxes for the best/most sentimental ones. Year before last, he put all our stockings (which I had hand beaded our names on, all our kids, too) and 2 saddle blankets made from red fleece with white eyelash trim (which was quite expensive per yard) and gold jingle bells in each corner (for riding in the Christmas parade) into a plain cardboard box, knowing we live in the woods and mice will get in, chew everything up, and make nests in the boxes. He did this while I was at work. So guess what, last year I open the box and all the stockings and my Christmas saddle blankets are RUINED! I was sooooooo angry and hurt, I had to just get in my truck (that's right MY truck) and leave for hours while I cried and cried! The stockings are irreplacable! I had bought them after Christmas one year when they went on sale (couldn't afford them otherwise) and we had used them for years! I refuse to buy more. There will never be stockings hanging on our mantle again. So...I know how stupid/dense/thoughtless husbands can be at times! Glad you got it all worked out BEFORE a tragedy occurred.

my hubbie would do the same as we both know that any chance the predators around here has a chance they are in! Its has happened in the past-

Cat got one of my littles one, but we managed to save him. So, DH is re-doing that coop. He would buy me my own tools if I wanted them, but I prefer that he does it

So glad your hubby finished the job...and um How Interesting!! about the other stuff

And I just realised my husband has been buying me tools (tools for ME) over the past few years, lol. He's sneaky! He does a TON of stuff for me, but knows i'll get down to brass tacks if i have to. Thus, my drill, my hammer, my staple gun..

Speaking of pink tools...I have a pair of pink FLOWERED pliers. I can always find that pair when I need them. My teenage son will not TOUCH that pair to save his life lest someone see him using them. He's loathe to go get them even to hand them to me. (I get handed whatever long lost pair he has stashed somewhere...)

I have asked my old man to help me build something, anything for my chickens he has an electrical saw but has it well hidden at the moment.

I have smaller chickens that needed a protected area for the night. I did ask him for some wood he took me got what I could from his tight butt lol ... I made a pen.

Then today I wanted a coop of course he is no help... I needed a saw so I found an old hand saw ....I snuck off with his measuring tape and back out the back door
and out to a pile of old lumber thats been there for years most are between 12 and 8 ft long so I made a floor frame of 12 ft x 8 ft nailed it together, then I needed some
boards for the wall so I cut the 12 fts in 1/2 giving me several 6 ft parts I only wanted a 6 ft tall building that i could walk into so far I have up 2 walls and a floor frame.

I can't wait for him to help me lets just pray it doesn't fall since I am putting everything together with wood and nails lol

When I get a chance I will add some metal deals that hold the frame parts together.

I wish I had a drill and electric saw my body sure does hurt from all the lifting, sawing and hammering. If I can get floor and 2 walls up in 1 single day I am sure I can get the rest done soon enough... Good thing I took wood shop in school or I would be up the creak without any paddles.

We can do just as good of a job as a man can but it does help to have the proper tools to make the job easier, and some effort...

Those of you with husbands who can even wield a hammer are lucky. My DH is even less mechanically inclined than I am, and that's pretty bad. At least I'm willing to TRY, and I have a daughter who is really talented at repairs and putting things together. DH and I have six adult children between us, and it's fascinating that the one and only girl is the one who does all the building and fixing. She and I would rather get tools and feed store gift certificates for gifts than anything!
