I went to a local feed store today. They had a small gage that was soaking wet! All the shavings were trenched with water. They already had one dead in the cage. They were bantams. They had one black silkie and others with feathered feet and beards. I dont know what breed it was. Well, I bought the two that were the most wet. THe silkie and the patridge mystery bantam with feathered feet and beard. I mean soaking wet! I was so mad and the manager didnt care! Now Im takin good care of em!

well those birds are VERY lucky you found them

and you should report them
where was it??

We came out of one local TSC disgusted a while back too. I counted 35 chicks with pasty butt in one bin and just couldn't believe they weren't helping the chicks out. And when I say pasty butt I mean PASTY BUTT! They had droppings built up on their butts that were almost the size of a quarter... that doesn't just happen in a short length of time. But a few of us were talking about chicks at work a few days ago and seems that everyone has seen this at almost every feed store they have been to. No one seems to care. Good job on the rescue though!

Awww...thats great that you took the two worse off chicks. Chances are good they will be your best chickens! Good karma coming your way for sure

Thanks! Ohh and I would have took em all but...... I went there for feed. I asked the manager how much he wanted for one of the half dead soaked chicks and he said 3 bucks! I was floored he would sell those poor chicks for that much. I didnt have much money on me at the time. He should have given me those poor chicks. I bet they are almost all dead now

ANyone have pics of a d uccle chick?

The feed store that I buy chickens from takes very good care of all the chicks, ducks, rabbits, and any other animals that they sell. Not all feed stores are bad at taking care of animals.

Thank god you saved a couple of them. my feedstore is horrible. When I was younger (like 5) We went to go get chickens. He reached in the cage, one fell. This cage was not short it's probably 6 feet tall. It fell right on it's little head, he picked it back up and threw it into the cage stacked under. It was trying to move but couldn't. It was really sad actually. Even now I got my new chicks yesterday and they cram about 100 into a cage two times smaller then my cage which only has 10 of them. Good luck with your new chicks!
